Kenai Eagle Cam Goes Live

City of Kenai

The Kenai Birding Festival is in full flight this weekend, but if a soggy day in the woods isn’t exactly your thing, the city of Kenai and the Kenai Chamber of Commerce have you covered with a new eagle cam. It just went live Friday. City manager Paul Ostrander showed the first public video of the nest at this week’s city council meeting.

"This is an eagle that resides within Kenai city limits. I think there's an enormous amount of opportunity here. What that looks like right now, we don't really know. The chamber has been involved in this project, too. Ultimately, we would like this to be something that brings attention to the city of Kenai by clicking on the eagle cam (which can show) all sorts of things that promote the city of Kenai."

The city has about $1,100 into the project. That number could go a bit higher if the eagle cam gets really popular and they need to provide more bandwidth for more viewers. Right now, Mom eagle is minding two unhatched eggs, which are expected to show us their stuff in the next week or so.
