Kenai Conversation: Alaska's shrinking workforce

Alaska’s workforce is shrinking.

It’s a problem that has been highlighted for a lot of people by the pandemic. But it’s not new. Even before COVID-19, Alaska saw four straight years of population decline.

We spoke with Dr. Ralph Townsend about what those changes mean for the state. Ralph is an economist and the former director of UAA’s Institute of Social and Economic Research.
