Soldotna residents reject field house bond

Residents inside the city limits of Soldotna appear to have voted down an addition to the city's regional sports complex.

In a special election yesterday (Tuesday), unofficial results posted by the city show the $10 million bond to fund a new "field house" failing by 21 votes, with 268 voting for it, and 289 against.

The only question on the ballot asked residents if the city should issue $10 million in general obligation bonds for the structure, which, at 42,000 square feet would house soccer, basketball, wrestling and flag football among others. It would also provide ample room for tradeshows and conventions.
