Hilcorp files modest Cook Inlet plans for 2019-2020

Hilcorp has filed its plans for the coming year with the state and little new work will be done on its Cook Inlet operations. The independent, Texas-based company produced 85% of the gas that came from Cook Inlet last year, with daily production approaching 200 million cubic feet.

According to the company’s plan of development filed with the Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas, just one new well is planned for its Cannery Loop operations. New drilling at the larger Ninilchik field will be put off for at least a year.

The plans are similar for maintaining current production levels further south on the Peninsula at the Happy Valley and Deep Creek sites. Hilcorp pointed to market conditions with plenty of existing gas supplies as the main reason its new drilling will slow so much in 2019.
