Kenai’s Allie Ostrander fell short of an Olympic bid at the Olympic Trial finals in Eugene, Ore. Thursday night. But she did make a personal best, with a time of 9:26.96 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
That put the 24-year-old in eighth place in the race. The top three finishers from Thursday qualified for the Summer Olympics, set for this July in Tokyo, Japan.
This is Ostrander’s second Olympic Trials. The professional runner raced and came in eighth place in the 5,000-meter in 2016.
Ostrander is a graduate of Kenai Central High School and Boise State University and a three-time NCAA champion in the steeplechase.
