School Board thanks student rep for service

Kenai Peninsula Borough School District

With the school year just about coming to an end, so too does the tenure of one of the members of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education.

Tanis Lorring of Soldotna High School is the student representative on the board, and her term will end with the school year.

Before that happens, though, School Board President Penny Vadla wanted to recognize Lorring at Monday night’s meeting, which was held in Seward. As Vadla pointed out, it was just one of many locales that Lorring traveled on behalf of the district.

"We would like to honor Tanis Loring, she's been our board member this year. She's a student Rep. Her voice has been heard at board meetings. She's part of the Student Advisory Board that is centered around the whole Kenai Peninsula School District. She has joined us in Anchorage at ASB and she has also joined us down in Juneau, at the "fly-in" and the student engagement week and she has done an excellent job representing us," Vadla said.

"She has put her heart out there and her thoughts out there. And it has really been a pleasure to have her and it's been a pleasure to have her with us. And she will be sorely missed," she added.
