Searchers seek missing Palmer man near Hope

The mystery remains for a third day of a Palmer man who went missing late Friday night along the Seward Highway.

The Alaska State Troopers report online that 56-year-old Earl “Rocky” Ashworth III of Palmer had walked away in an unknown direction from his camp near the Hope Cutoff.

Troopers conducted a hasty search with negative results, and called in volunteers from the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group, Alaska Search and Rescue Dogs, and Alaska Solstice Search Dogs, along with the troopers helicopter. A more thorough search over the weekend proved fruitless.

Ashworth was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a blue t-shirt; he’s a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information of his whereabouts are urged to contact the troopers or local police.
