Two collisions and one fatality on Seward Highway Monday night

Anchorage Police Department

There was a fatal traffic accident on the Seward Highway Monday, according to a report from Anchorage police.

A pickup truck and sedan collided at Mile 90 on Monday evening, amid whiteout blizzard conditions. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The driver of the pickup had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The other three passengers in that car were not injured.

The sedan was headed north when it crossed the centerline in front of the oncoming truck, according to police.

Separately, police reported another collision at Mile 93. Those involved in that accident sustained minor injuries.

The police closed the highway to traffic between mile markers 90 and 93 last night, but have since opened it back up.

Investigations are ongoing and police will release the name of the deceased when next of kin are notified.
