It's Election Day on the Kenai

        This is municipal election day on the Kenai Peninsula, and in much of the state's communities. Locally, citizens will elect representatives to city councils, service areas, the school board and borough assembly. There are also initiatives on the ballot for voters to decide.

There are three openings on the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly, representing Districts 3, 4, and 7, Nikiski, Soldotna, and the Central Region, respectively.

Three candidates are seeking the District 3 seat: Joseph Ross, Jesse Bjorkman, and Jonathan Quick.

We are wrapping up KDLL’s pre-election coverage with a look at the candidates for Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Seats 4 and 7.
In District 4, Soldotna, incumbent Dale Bagley cannot run again due to term limits, and there are two candidates running to replace him: Tyson Cox and Rose Henry.
Cox, a current Soldotna City Council member, is a property manager and former school teacher. Henry is a pharmacist at Fred Meyer.

Kenai Conversation: Borough Assembly Seats 4 and 7

As part of KDLL's pre-election coverage, candidates for Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly Seats 4 and 7 were invited to join host Jay Barrett on the Kenai Conversation. Assembly Seat 4 candidate Tyson Cox was present, as was Assembly Seat 7 candidate Brent Johnson. The municipal election is Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Slate set for assembly, school board elections

The filing period has closed for borough assembly and school board candidates in this October’s municipal election.
    Seats for Assembly Districts 3, 4, and 7 are available for three-year terms, representing, Nikiski, Soldotna, and the Central Area, south of Soldotna.
    None of the incumbents, President Wayne Ogle, Vice-President Dale Bagley, and  long-time Assemblyman Paul Fischer, are on the ballot.
