Outdoor, in-person beer festivals return after the dark year of COVID, including the 10th annual Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival. Bill gets an update from KP beerfest organizer Matt Pyhala and muses on what makes a good beer festival (hint: quality, not quantity). Plus, interviews with Girdwood Brewing and Darcy Kniefel, with the 2021 Alaska Craft Brew Festival, on July's Drinking on the Last Frontier.
Cheers!

Soldotna Rotary is celebrating a decade of beer. It’s holding its 10th annual Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival next month, with lots of familiar craft brew faces — from Kenai River Brewing, Kassik's and St. Elias on the central peninsula, to Cooper Landing Brewery and Palmer’s Bleeding Heart.

Matthew Pyhala with Soldotna Rotary helped get the beer festival started.

On this month's Drinking on the Last Frontier, Bill visits with Alaska brewing veterans Glacier Brewhouse and the newest kids on the brewing block — Lazy Mountain Brewing. Plus, a recap of the Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival, a taste of the Oktoberfest beer style and a quick look at the art of the slow pour.

Cheers to July! On this month's show, Bill has a preview of the Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival, celebrates the pilsner style and discusses a controversial tap room decision to ground tasting flights and refuse outside growlers.

More information on the Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival can be found here.

This month, Bill reports from the eighth annual Kenai Peninsula Beer Festival and compares the craft brewing industry in Maine vs. Alaska.

In this month's Drinking in the Last Frontier, get a taste of the latest brew at St. Elias, made with locally grown hops. And hop on over to your 'third place,' perhaps to try this month's beer style, the gueuze.
