On Tuesday, borough voters will decide whether to keep or close the cannabis industry outside the cities.

Ballot Proposition 1 came from a contingent of concerned citizens who feel the Kenai Peninsula is struggling already with substance abuse issues, and commercializing yet another drug will not help that problem. Blaine Gilman of Kenai has been one of the leading opponents of the industry. In this second part of our series looking at Prop 1, KDLL’s Shaylon Cochran talks with Gilman about his experience with cannabis, why he helped get this measure on the ballot and why he’d like to see marijuana out of the spotlight.
