Walker hints at AK LNG partnership

The state may have a new dance partner for the AK LNG Project. Governor Bill Walker tweeted over the weekend about meetings he had with the heads of some North Slope producers.

Walker later tweeted an article from Axios news that said BP CEO Bob Dudley expressed interest in the project.

A tight global gas market has some questioning the viability of the $43 billion, 800-mile pipeline from the Slope to Nikiski. BP, along with ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips were all involved in the project until 2016, when all three backed away from further spending on the next engineering and design phase. That’s when the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation took over.

AGDC will be in Nikiski next month with an update on the next steps for the gas line.
