The Alaska Oil and Gas Association has announced its yearly industry awards in advance of its annual conference scheduled for the end of the month in Anchorage.
Among them are awards for safety, environmental stewardship, and lifetime achievement.
The Rising Star Award, according to the association, "honors an oil and gas industry professional under the age of 35, who has made an immediate and definitive impact on the oil and gas industry in Alaska."
The award this year went to Leonard Dickerson, an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist III for Hilcorp Alaska.
According to a release from the AOGA, Dickerson was born and raised on the Kenai Peninsula, and began his career in industry safety in 2007, working for oil field services company Expro as a Health, Safety and Environmental Quality Control Coordinator.
In 2014 he went to work for Hilcorp and oversees 12 offshore platforms and three onshore facilities. Dickerson is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and is active in local safety forums including the Alaska Support Industry Alliance and the Governor’s Health and Safety Conference each year.
AOGA gave the Marilyn Crockett Lifetime Achievement Award to one of its own former executive directors, Pat Foley of Caelus Energy Alaska.
The group gave its Environmental Stewardship and Innovation Award to Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for its otter rehabilitation facility upgrade. Originaly built in the 1990s, the facility was designed for cleaning sea otters and other critters during an oil spill.
AOGA's annual gathering will be May 31st in Anchorage.
