Retired Lt. Col. leads in HD29 fundraising

Shawn Butler for State Representative

In our continuing series of interviews with candidates for Alaska State House and Senate, we bring you Shawn Butler of Hope. She is running as a non-partisan in the primary for District 29, which stretches from Nikiski, to Hope, Funny River and Seward.

Butler said she wants to ensure cuts are made properly, but also wants to see the state generate more revenue. Butler already has some personal success in generating revenue. According to filings with the Alaska Public Offices Commission, she has a sizable lead in fundraising over both Ben Carpenter and Wayne Ogle.

In the 2018 Primary Election 30-Day Report, Butler reports $17,658 in campaign revenue, which is more than double the $8,303 raised so far by Ogle. Carpenter reports only $500 in contributions.

Jay Barrett spoke with her in the KDLL studios when she was in Kenai recently.
