Involved students recognized and rewarded for good deeds

Alaska Communications

Heroes these days come in all shapes and sizes. There are the ones that are easy to spot — like the hotshot crews battling wildfire. Some others are younger and don’t get as much press. But Monday night three district students were recognized before the Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board by Alaska Communications company.
The Summer of Heroes program is a partnership between the former ACS and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska.
All three students, Carlee Rizzo, Anna Devolld, and Zachary Halstead, received a $1,500 University of Alaska College Savings Plan Scholarship.
The company’s Heather Marone shared with the school board the reasons three Central Peninsula students took half the awards.
