No-cost check-ups offered on Saturday in Kenai

A newly opened clinic in Kenai is taking the spirit of Christmas to the next level on Saturday. That’s when all visits will be free. Jared Wallace is a P-A, physician assistant, and owner of Odyssey Family Practice.
“All of our office visits and the fees and codes associated with them, you know, they will all be free so the office visits will be at no cost,” he said. “And it's for patients that either are acutely ill if they are sick or have an injury or an old injury, they want evaluated or if they are concerned about their overall health, they just want to routine checkup and make sure everything's okay. Or if they know they have a chronic disease that hasn't been untreated. You know, we're honestly seeing, you know, anyone and everyone you know for just about any purpose.”
In addition, a variety of tests will be available as well.
“We have onsite X-ray. And then we perform a handful of in-house labs routine screening such as urine samples, pregnancy tests, flu and influenza, strep tests, urine samples, things like that,” he said. “So all of the in-house, point-of-care testing and X-ray will be done at no cost.”
He said lab tests that need to be sent out will be offered at a discount through their provider.
Wallace is the only provider, and expects a busy day, but he says everyone at the clinic is pitching in.
“And it shouldn't go unnoticed that, you know, all of my staff has volunteered all of their time as well, you know, so it's a huge group effort put this all together. It's not just me, I could do it by myself, you know,” he said. “So it's pretty neat that they not only, you know, talked through the idea, and then are also volunteering their whole day to make it happen.”
Odyssey Family Practice is located just north of the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center, next door to the equally new Dry Bones Coffee in the old blue Napa building.
Wallace says the hours Saturday will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and no appointment is necessary.
