Boy killed in Sterling Highway collision

City of Soldotna

An 11-year old Soldotna boy was killed in a collision Wednesday on the Sterling Highway, near Mackey Lake Road.

Soldotna police say the boy was a passenger in a 2001 Nissan Maxima that was heading east on the highway just before 1 p.m. The car crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a Central Emergency Services ambulance.

A crewmember from the ambulance and the driver of the car were taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Soldotna Police say the collision is still being investigated.
