Kenai Peninsula College Director Gary Turner is retiring at the end of this fiscal year. There are two candidates in the final round of consideration to take the reins July 1. Candidate forums will be held over Zoom this week for the campus and community.
Cheryl Siemers is no stranger to KPC. She’s been the assistant Director for Academic Affairs at the college since 2015. Before that she was the Arts and Sciences Department chair at KPC from 2010-14, and the Writing Lab Coordinator from 2012-14. Before coming to KPC, Siemers held several administrative positions at Alaska Christian College in Soldotna.
Robyne Taylor has been the dean of Business and Technology, Early Childhood Education and Visual Communications since 2016 at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem, Ore.
The college serves an ethnically diverse, multicounty district with two campuses, two outreach centers and a Center for Business and Industry. Taylor was previously the dean of Social Sciences, Human Services, Business and Technology, from 2012- 16, and a faculty member in Early Childhood Education from 2008-12.
KPC is holding three Zoom sessions this week. Siemers will meet with KPC staff and faculty at 10: 15 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a student forum at 1:30 p.m. and an open community forum at 4 p.m. Taylor will be up Thursday, meeting with faculty and staff at 10:15 a.m., students at 1:30 p.m. and the community at 4 p.m. You can find links to those Zoom logins on the KPC homepage, Kpc.alaska.edu.
