Borough assists with online vaccine registration

Sabine Poux/KDLL

The Kenai Peninsula Borough is opening a call center to help seniors register for their doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

Starting tomorrow, those eligible for the vaccine can call in to add their names to a waiting list. That’s for seniors who have had trouble navigating the online system on their own, according to the borough.

Vaccine registration has been a fraught process for some Alaskans so far.

Some seniors say the state’s website has been difficult to navigate. Others couldn’t register for appointments before they all filled up.

Currently, there are no appointments available on the peninsula. Providers say they’ll add more slots as they get more doses of the vaccine.

Vaccines are currently open to healthcare workers and Alaskans over 65 years of age.

The call center will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon. Central peninsula residents can call 262-4636 to get set up.

Residents of Homer should call 235-4636. In Seward, call 224-4636.
