Three seats are up for grabs this year on the nine-member Homer Electric board of directors. The cooperative is taking candidate nominations now, ahead of the election this May.
Board president Ed Oberts represents Soldotna, Sterling and Kasilof on the board, for District 2. He’s terming out of his seat this year.
Dan Chay is also in his last term on the board. He represents Kenai, Nikiski and part of Soldotna for District 1.
The District 3 seat, for the southern peninsula, is also up for reelection in 2022. Erin McKittrick currently has that seat and is running again, according to an HEA press release.
Candidates have to get 15 signatures from HEA members in their districts to be eligible to run. Those signatures are part of a larger candidacy packet due to the co-op March 4. You can find that here.
