The annual Industry Outlook Forum, put on by the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District, is Thursday, Jan. 6 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. It’s a snapshot of the economy of the Kenai Peninsula today and a forecast of what’s to come. According to Tim Dillon, executive director of KPEDD, the forum has changed substantially over its 15-year history, just like the peninsula’s economy.

This week, we revisit the Kenai Peninsula Industry Outlook Forum. Mariculture was a major topic at the forum last week in Seward.

The annual industry outlook forum is coming up next week. This year’s forum will take place in Seward. The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District, along with Chambers of Commerce from Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Seward all work to organize and support the event.

Soon commercial fishermen will be putting their nets in the water, and charter guides will be roaring up and down the Kenai at 6 a.m., followed by the thundering hordes of dipnetters in July.
