ECON 919 - Youth Training Program

This week, what the alaska gasline development corporation needs from the city of Kenai for it’s much-hyped LNG project on the North road, but we start with job training.

We spoke with Tim Dillon, executive director of the Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District about a new program they’re working on to get students from all corners of the peninsula ready for the jobs that will be available locally after graduation.

Number of the Week: 6

That’s how many miles the city of Kenai’s water line will need to be extended in order to serve operations at the proposed AK LNG site toward Nikiski.  They’d need more than half a million gallons a day. That would be a 50 percent increase in the amount of water Kenai already provides through its system. No cost estimates are available yet. A feasibility study will be done this spring.
