Pumpkins and planes took to the skies last Saturday for an unusual fall-time celebration. The Kenai Pumpkin Drop is an annual tradition of small engine pilots competing to see who can land, and destroy, their gourd closest to a target.

The two other airlines that serve Kenai — Grant and Kenai Aviation — have announced increased flights. Airport officials say they'll soon seek a third airline to replace Ravn.

The airline will join Grant Aviation and Ravn Air at the Kenai airport. Rambler Air was also set to start offering scheduled flights between Kenai and Anchorage this spring, though that's no longer the case.
