Orientation is the first step to becoming a foster or adoptive parent in Alaska.

The orientation will:

Explain the mission and function of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS)
Define the term “resource family”
Outline the steps to become licensed
Review the application process
Clarify available supports

Resource family orientation is held over the phone from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Looking for support with your application? After the orientation we will offer an optional hour-long session to get help with completing the application.

Support local. Celebrate summer!

The Gauntlet is a courseless, self-navigated mountain bike race at Tsalteshi Trails. There are checkpoints in the form of old paperbacks spread throughout the trails. The locations and amount of checkpoints will be revealed at the beginning of the race. The Gauntlet will test your endurance, your wits and your ability to navigate on the trails. Riders are encouraged to ride in groups, ride socially or ride alone.

Preregister online and save. $25 for TTA members and $35 for nonmembers. Day-of registration is also available, $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. Day-of race check-in begins at 10:00 a.m., there is a mandatory racer's meeting at 10:45 a.m. and the race begins at 11:00 am sharp. More information and preregistration at www.tsalteshi.org/events.

Lego® Club
Mondays from 4:00pm–5:00pm
Join us every Monday in the Front Conference Room to build awesome Lego® sculptures! Each week a new theme and challenge will help spark your imagination. We will also have a dollhouse open and available each week in the same room! Bring your own doll or play with ours.

Wee Read
Tuesdays from 10:30am–11:00am
Intended for young children ages birth to three years and their parents or caregivers, this program focuses on early language and social skills through fun stories, songs, and play time.

Tech Time
Tuesdays from 11:00am – 1:00pm
Tech time is available at the Kenai Community Library for anyone with basic technology questions.
We can help you with:
• Basic computer skills
• Accessing library resources
• How to access eBooks and Audiobooks
• Using devices such as eReaders, tablets, and smartphones
• Digital photos
• Social media
• Email

Learn how to sew these simple and easy DIY pot holders: perfect for beginners. A kitchen essential, these pot holders make for both a beautiful and functional handmade gift. Registration Required.

Rhubarb No-Bake Pie
Wednesday, August 27th from 5:30pm–6:30pm
Sign up today for a fun fall treat! We'll be learning how to make no-bake rhubarb pie with a tasty graham cracker crust. Participants will take home their own mini pie to share or eat. Class size is limited and registration is required.

Board Game Night: Risk
Thursday, August 28th from 5:00pm–6:45pm
Don't Risk missing out! Join us to play one of the most popular war games of all time. Beginners and experienced players welcome. Snacks and soda available! Registration required.

Harvest Moon Local Food Festival!

The Harvest Moon Local Food Festival is the Kenai Peninsula’s biggest one-day farmers market and local food celebration. The festival spotlights local Alaskans who grow, harvest and produce a wide variety of Alaska Grown and Made in Alaska food and wellness products. This event is free for the whole family and includes fun activities for kids and grown-ups alike. We have live music, featuring KP Brass Band at 5 pm, cooking demonstrations, educational talks, food trucks, the popular Fermentation Station, wild edibles walks, and a pie baking contest hosted by the local Farm Bureau.
