The Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF) invites individuals and families across Alaska to a supportive orientation for those interested in becoming resource parents.
Orientation is the first step to becoming a foster or adoptive parent in Alaska. Join us for a presentation about becoming a foster parent for the Office of Children’s Services. Licensing staff will be in attendance to answer questions.
The orientation will:
Explain the mission and function of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS)Define the term “resource family”Outline the steps to become licensedReview the application processClarify available supports
Resource family orientation is held over Zoom.

Resource family orientation is held over the phone from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Looking for support with your application? After the orientation we will offer an optional hour-long session to get help with completing the application.
Pre-register now to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.

The Harvest Moon Local Food Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration of local food on the Kenai Peninsula. It brings together farmers, food vendors, and artisans to highlight the region’s abundance. Visitors can enjoy fresh produce, handmade goods, live entertainment, cooking demos, kids’ activities, and community events like a pie contest—all focused on celebrating and supporting local food and community connections.

Repurpose & refresh used clothes by Tie dyeing them. Jen Lutron, master tie dyer, leads the events held on third Tuesdays of the month at The Goods from 4-7pm. Bring some new or used clothes, or Jen has some you may use.
