All of the deaths were reported by Alaska State Troopers within the last week.

In a statement posted online, troopers say the woman had opened her front door around 5 a.m. to find a brown bear sow and two cubs, which caused one of her dogs to run back inside, while the other ran away from the door.

In a news release, the U.S. Attorney’s office says 50-year-old Miller had no legal justification for the violent arrest. Prosecutors say 43-year-old Woodruff illegally used his police dog to bite the man when he did not pose a threat.

Troopers say 30-year-old Tyler Moyer, of Anchorage, was wanted on a $50,000 felony arrest warrant.

A Kenai grand jury indicted 50-year-old Joseph Miller Jr. over what is alleged to be a violent arrest of the wrong person in Kenai. Another former state trooper, Jason Woodruff, also faces a felony assault charge for his own alleged conduct during the same arrest.

A 36-year-old woman was attacked near her driveway in Kenai at around 5:45 a.m Tuesday morning.
