Representative Justin Ruffridge spoke on Wednesday about his recent legislative efforts ahead of a special legislative session in Juneau this weekend.

Representative Bill Elam spoke last week about his 2025 legislative efforts, which ranged from education funding to the Alaska LNG Project.

Ridgeway resident John Hillyer filed to run for the seat in November. It is currently held by Ben Carpenter, who has filed to run for the State Senate.

Elam is currently serving his second term on the Borough Assembly. He filed to run in District 8, the seat currently represented by Ben Carpenter.

Olson served six terms in the Alaska State House of Representatives. He died of pancreatic cancer last Thursday.

A supreme court ruling earlier this year will remove minor pre-legalization marijuana charges from the state's online court record site. A House bill would also remove them from some background checks, as offenders struggle to access jobs and housing eight years after recreational weed was legalized in the state.
