Join Tsalteshi Trails Association and the Soldotna Library for a kids story hike at 2 p.m. July 15, as part of the Soldotna Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. Learn about hiking on the trails, read a nature-oriented book, enjoy a snack and go for a short hike on the trails. Meet at the Skyview Trailhead, behind Skyview Middle School in Soldotna. The Kenai Watershed Forum has its annual Salmon Run Series at Tsalteshi Trails on Wednesday nights, July 9 to Aug. 6. Run or walk a 5K course at Tsalteshi Trails. Courses get progressively more challenging week to week, with week five repeating week one’s course to see how far you’ve come. A youth fun run starts at 6 p.m. with the 5K at 6:15 p.m. More information and online registration is at www.kenaiwatershed.org.
Tsalteshi Trails Association has its annual Soldotna Cycle Series mountain bike races Thursday nights, July 10 through Aug. 14. Check-in starts at 5:45 p.m., races start at 6:15 p.m. Registration is $5 per race for TTA members, or $10 for nonmembers. Cap the season with the Tsalteshi Gauntlet route-finding race Aug. 24. Join Tsalteshi Trails Association for a hiking training walk at 6 p.m. July 28, at the Wolverine Trailhead, across K-Beach Road from the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. Laura Gerber, a physical therapist with Alaska Aquatic and Rehab Therapy, offers tips for avoiding and overcoming injuries and getting in shape for hiking. The hike is free and open to the public.
