The Resilient Alaska Youth Program is currently looking for new community partners and Youth Activity Coordinators across Alaska. If your community would like to offer safe, supportive afterschool and summer activities for youth ages 5 to 18, the RAY Program can help bring those opportunities to your area. RAY partners with schools, Tribal organizations, community centers, and other local organizations to provide youth programs that promote leadership, cultural engagement, recreation, academic enrichment, and healthy connections. We're also recruiting Youth Activity Coordinators. These local leaders serve as positive role models and help organize and lead activities that reflect the strengths and interests of their communities. The Kenai Community Library will be closed Monday, October 19th, 2026 for Alaska Day. We will reopen at 9:00am on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026.

Join us every Monday in the Front Conference Room to build awesome Lego® sculptures! Each week a new theme and challenge will help spark your imagination. We will also have a dollhouse open and available each week in the same room! Bring your own doll or play with ours.

Intended for young children ages birth to three years and their parents or caregivers, this program focuses on early language and social skills through fun stories, songs, and play time.

Tech time is available at the Kenai Community Library for anyone with basic technology questions. We can help you with: basic computer skills, accessing library resources, how to access eBooks and audiobooks, using devices such as eReaders, tablets, and smartphones, digital photos, social media, and email. *We do not take apart or repair devices, assist with financial transactions, or handle malware/viruses. Appointments required.

Join us after Wee Read or Preschool Storytime for playtime! The toy bin will be available, along with coloring sheets, sensory bins, and more to promote social emotional learning skills.

Repurpose & refresh used clothes by Tie dyeing them. Jen Lutron, master tie dyer, leads the events held on third Tuesdays of the month at The Goods from 4-7pm. Bring some new or used clothes, or Jen has some you may use.

Tessa Hulls, Pulitzer Prize winning author from Alaska will present Tessa Hulls: Giving Voice to the Arctic Refuge with a watch party at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. A unique artist experienced a unique residency when Tessa packrafted the Marsh Fork of the Canning River embedded with two Arctic National Wildlife staff. Tessa says, "I will give an overview of the refuge history and talk about my own experience of being humbled into action by the scale of the land." Free copies will be available of the graphic "zine" One River: Many Braids: Paddling the complexity and Connection of the Marsh Fork of the Canning River Tessa wrote and illustrated as a result of her residency. This is a regular monthly meeting of Friends of Alaska National Wildlife Refuges. All are welcome.
